THERE WILL COME SOFT RAINS

TheRE WILL COME SOFT RAINS takes it’s name from Sara Teasdales’ 1918 poem, and the subsequent short story of the same name by Ray Bradbury in 1950. Both suggest that nature would be indifferent to humanity’s extinction, and that ‘life’ would go on as normal.

Revisiting this is over a hundred years later it feels possibly more relevant, but also expanded. Nature is no longer the clear favourite. Despite the heavy subject matter, I wanted to create an album that imparts hope and optimism, explores humanity’s dynasty, it’s fight or flight. Marrying traditional instrumentation as fond nostalgia, with technological innovation through the random chaos of modular synthesis, sound design and spatial audio.

VLMV’s (pronounced ALMA) first 2 albums were released on the illustrious Fierce Panda Records, receiving critical acclaim from the likes of Lauren Laverne, The Independent, and many more. Previous album, 2022’s album Sing With Abandon, was released via Nice Weather for Airstrikes and gained praise from the likes of PROG magazine. In 2019, VLMV signed to Erased Tapes Music Publishing.

As a composer for film and tv, Pete Lambrou’s music has been heard in homes all over the world. Working for clients such as Vice, The National Trust, Universal Music, BMG, and with Brands such as Nike, Hyundai, Ikea and Rolex among many others.
